Antioxidant KY 616 is a highly effective polyphenolic antioxidant with high activity and very low volatility. It is especially recommended for the protection of natural, synthetic polymers and elastomers based on isoprene and butadiene chemistry. Ideally suited for the protection of light colored, nonstaining goods derived from natural rubber and latex, SBR and carboxylated SBR lattices, ABS, NBR, BR, SBS and SIS in applications where the retention of appearance and elastic properties during storage and use are important requirements.
Chemical Name: Butylated reaction products of p-cresol and dicyclopentadiene.
Applications:
Antioxidant KY 616 is an excellent non-discoloring, non-staining antioxidant, posessing high activity and low volatility. It is highly recommended for the protection of isoprene and butadiene-based polymers. It is also recommended for the stabilization of natural rubber and latex, SBR and caboxylated SBR latices, ABS, ASA, MBS, SBS, SIS, CR, NBR, BR and for tackifiers, adhesives and sealants. Antioxidant KY 616 is highly resistant to extraction by washing and boiling making it especially suitable for use in rubber threads and latex for carpet backing and foams. It can be prepared as an aqueous dispersion for easier handling and addition to water-based systems.
Its application includs manufactured goods such as elastic thread, carpet backing, foam rubber mattresses, household and surgical gloves, medical products, baby bottle teats, bath mats, hot water bottles, automotive components, household appliances (gaskets, liners, parts, housing, etc.), electronic appliance housings, and paper coatings
Storage:
It should be stored in dry, cool, ventilated room; keep away from water, moisture, high temperature and fire. This product has a shelf life of at least 36 months if stored in tightly closed original container at room temperature
